slacker

I know the 3 of you who follow my blog are thinking that I am a slacker for not posting in a while.
I have been way to busy trying to come up with little white lies to tell my wife so that I could surprise her with a party to celebrate her 30th birthday. All the stress from the planning and getting ready for Christmas has now left me with the flu or some such thing. There has been tons of exciting things happening around here and I will get to posting about them in a day or two. Hopefully when I do post there will also be pics but only if Kathy can get them UN-erased. Yep they are all gone, bye-bye, no pictures for most of December. So until later..............

It finally snowed!!!!!

After Becca's guitar lesson last Friday we loaded up the car and headed up to Mountain High.
We arrived around 2pm to the sight of cars and people everywhere. Many of the people were parked illegally and I began to worry if there would be any place for us to park. Going snowboarding right after a huge snowstorm one week before Christmas was looking like a bad idea.
I drove over to the east resort where they were allowing cars in the parking lot and found a real decent spot. We took the tram over to west, picked up the kids passes, and hit the slopes. The kids had a really good time but they were a bit cold as it was 24 degrees and there gloves kept getting snow in them. We rode for a few hours and got home around bed time. It was a good first trip.

Ready to shred

Dude.....how cool is this? Our kids are stoked and ready to shred! Becca, Gabe, Elayna, and Dad all have new gear this year. The kids ask everyday "Daddy when are we going snowboarding". We all got season passes to Mountain High. I was able to go up today as it was the first day they were open with top to bottom runs. Hopefully
this weekend we will get some more snow, because as of now its pretty weak. If it snows I will take the kids up next week :) Stay tuned for pics of the kids rippin it up!.

The day after continued.....

After I (Brian) had a nap to recover --from being so awesome-- we began to decorate the house for Christmas. This has been a tradition in our house since Kathy and I got married. Every year on the day after Thanksgiving we pull out all the Christmas music, get the boxes of decorations out of the garage, and start celebrating. Kathy and the kids started with the decorations around the house while I began to set up the tree. We had forgotten all about the two injuries from the previous year. No worries though, with a little super glue we were able to reattach the head of the wise man
and the ear of the cow. "Christmas time is here again"!

The day after.

I (Brian) was up early to celebrate Black Friday with thousands of my closest neighbors at Wal- Mart. The store opened at 5a.m. so I showed up at 4:40. The parking lot was full , so I parked in front of Office Depot. There was a line of at least 1000 people that wrapped around most of the parking lot. I decided to walk the line to see if I knew anyone that I could join-- no luck. On to plan-B. I walked up behind all the people in front of the doors and peered in over the crowd as though a curious bystander investigating the scene, then I nonchalantly walked back to a very large pillar and shouldered up on the outside edge next to an overflowing trash can filled with the garbage from those who had spent the night waiting in the cold. Hopefully no one would notice. Two women with shopping carts walked up from the parking lot and stood near the doors where they were verbally abused. One of the women, as she sipped her Starbucks coffee, used the excuse of needing to use the restroom. This simply brought more jeers. Two minutes later another woman tried the very same thing; even I felt like yelling at her. Didn't she know we had been waiting patiently? At the same time 3 young men approached from the opposite side and stood about 40 feet back eliciting only minor verbal disapproval, which they simply ignored.
Finally the moment of truth, the doors opened, people rushed in and I was one of those people. No one noticed. Plan-B worked flawlessly! I found everything on my list and was out in 20 minutes. I loaded up the car and went back for the two items, which I can not mention due to my children being able to read, that required a cart. This time I got in the back of the line which was still going in. Totally done by 5:30. PEOPLE.........that's how it's done! After I left there I went to Best Buy where they were allowing two at a time into the store so I bounced. I pulled into the Target parking lot 10 minutes before it opened. The line was past the garden center--bummer--
I got in it anyway. The store opened and the line moved right along. Found what I wanted and was out in 10 minutes. With such great luck how could I not try one more store? Kohls had been open for just over an hour so there was no line outside. There was a large selection of toys and I was able to finish shopping for the kids. I was stoked as I walked through the store with an arm full of toys, wondering what are all these people waiting in line for? Doesn't matter I scored!
Turns out it was the line to checkout--WHAT ?-- An hour later I was finally on my way home.

Thanksgiving Day

We celebrated this year at Grandma Milner's house. Both the Turner side and the Milner side were present. Grandma made a wonderful turkey and dressing, with the side dishes and deserts being prepared by all our beautiful wives. As our families continue to grow we no longer fit at the dining room table. With the addition of the great grandchildren we have had a kids table in the dining room for several years. This year ( and maybe last year ) we have had a third table in the living room. The growth of the family is great, but grandma you may need to enlarge your dining room ( again ). Of course there was "cornhole". I think we may start listening to country music, drinking Bud Light, and sporting the mullets! Who knows maybe we can find a nice double wide with a huge dining room. All joking aside, Thanks to Grandma for another memorable
Thanksgiving, and Thanks to Laura Milner for the pics.

Skate ramp

Brian built the kids their first skate ramp, and of course he had to make sure it was skate worthy.
Yes all of our kids have hurt themselves on it. Next is a 4' halfpipe!

Becca

Becca has been taking guitar for a while now, and she has a recital every couple of months. This video is from Monday the 24th. You may have to turn your volume way up as the video quality is very bad. The piece is "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and she just started practicing it a week before the recital. Enjoy!?!

Cornhole Good Times

This afternoon we cruised over to Brian's parent's house to celebrate Jon and Ruby"s engagement. Coby and Maria barbecued up a serious feast of salmon, tri-tip, ratatouille, shrimp and about 20 other food items (I ate so much I can't even remember it all). Kathy commented
" I should have worn bigger pants". Then the fun really began when Coby busted out the Baggo game, you may know it as "Cornhole", "corn toss", "Tail Gate Toss", whatever, it was good times!
Oh Yeah! did I mention that Jon and Ruby were there too, and they are engaged, good times!

2160

Some may ask what is "2160"?
360, 720, 1080....... think full revolution x 6 (six turns).
Still don't get it? Well thats the kind of abstract stuff you can expect.
The Turners have arrived to the world of blogging!
Hopefully we will continue to find our way back so that we
can keep you updated on our super duper exciting family life.
